Thomas P. Bogart, M.A., EFO, CFO, MIFireE
Thomas P. Bogart currently serves as the Fire Chief of the Lynnfield, MA Fire Department.  He also has the collateral responsibility of being the Emergency Management Director for the Town of Lynnfield.  Thomas has 28 years in the fire service.  Thomas was hired by the Lynn, MA Fire Department in 1983 as a firefighter and was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 1991.  He served as a company officer for many years before he became the department's Safety Officer/Assistant Training Officer.  He then became the department's Communications Officer in charge of the communications center which serves as a Regional Secondary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) also serving Towns of Swampscott and Nahant, MA as well.

He holds the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence's Commission of Professional Credentialing (CPC).  He graduated from the United States Fire Administration/National Fire Academy's (NFA) Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) in 2011.  He was recently designated as a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE).  He holds the Fire Chief credential from the Massachusetts Fire Service Commission.

Thomas is a member International Association of Fire Chiefs’ (IAFC) Emergency Management Committee’s “Go Team” (2011).

He has a Master of Arts (MA) in Fire Science and Administration from Anna Maria College (MA).  He has a Bachelor in General Studies (BGS) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Fire Science Administration from Salem State University (MA).  Thomas also holds: an Associate of Arts (AA) - General Studies Option, an Associate of Arts (AA) - Business Transfer Option, and an Associate of Science (AS) - Fire Protection and Safety Technology from North Shore Community College (MA). In addition, has completed coursework from the National Fire Academy (NFA), the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) and the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy - including graduating from the Donohue Institute of the University of Massachusetts/Massachusetts Firefighting Academy's Chief Fire Officer Management Training Program.  He has completed many training programs at the New Hampshire Fire Academy (NHFA).

Thomas teaches extensively and serves on the instructional staff of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA) and the Massachusetts Emergency Managements Agency (MEMA).  He also is an adjunct faculty member of Bunker Hill Community College (MA), North Shore Community College (MA), and Anna Maria College (MA).  

Thomas was the founding President of the former North Shore (MA) Training Officers Association. That organization became the Essex County (MA) Fire Chiefs' Association (ECFCA) - Training Division and he became its founding President.  He is a former President of the Massachusetts Institute of Fire Department Instructors (MIFDI).  He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Fire Prevention Association of Massachusetts (FPAM).  He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the Fire Chiefs’ Association of Massachusetts (FCAM), New England Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Essex County Fire Chiefs' Association (ECFCA).   

A father of two children, Thomas is married to Cheryl and they reside in Lynnfield, MA where he is active in community and civic organizations.
